Co-Presenting with Nitasha Crishna (Elementary Deputy Principal, UNIS Hanoi) on Learning for Impact: Identity, Action, and the Living World
What happens when learning is rooted not just in knowledge, but in identity, responsibility, and impact?
At both United Nations International School of Hanoi and Green School Bali, learning is grounded in a shared belief that education must move beyond preparation for the future and into meaningful action now. Whether through an inquiry stance connected to the Sustainable Development Goals or a regenerative approach guided by the 4S framework, both schools center a common purpose: developing learners who use their agency, understand their impact and act with integrity in the world.
Central to this work is a belief that learners are not just recipients of education, but active participants in shaping it. When students are given a genuine seat at the table, their voices influence not only how they apply learning, but how learning itself is designed. This shift challenges traditional structures and invites us to reconsider whose perspectives are valued in our systems.
In this session, participants will explore the shared foundations between these two schools and reflect on their own contexts through guided protocols. Where do mission, vision, and values already point toward impact and agency? Where are there opportunities to elevate student voice as a driver of learning design? We will also surface common barriers, from structural constraints to mindset shifts, and explore ways to navigate them.
Grounded in examples and practical tools, this session aims to spark ideas, surface possibilities, and support leaders in identifying tangible next steps. Participants will leave with concrete strategies to begin creating spaces where learners help shape the educational experiences that prepare them to contribute to a more just and regenerative world.
